• Fact meets fiction as battle re-enactors from the Clanranald trust play dead for a Battle of Bannockburn historical documentary near Drymen, Stirlingshire. In 1314, Robert the Bruce led a Scottish army into battle with a larger and more better armed English army near Stirling. The Scots were victorious, paving the way for full independence with the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320 until the act of Union in 1707. The Union of Crowns in 1606 marked the end of a unique royal family with James IV of Scotland becoming James the I of England following the death of Queen Elizabeth I.
